Word Guess Practice

Practice

Loading puzzle…

Take another turn at a five-letter puzzle. Practice uses the same letter feedback as the daily game, with a new round available when you want one.

Choose what you want to practice

Use a round to explore a different opening word, concentrate on moving misplaced letters, or check how repeated letters work. You do not need a winning streak to make a useful discovery.

You have six guesses in each practice game. If a word is rejected, it does not use an attempt. Read the feedback from accepted guesses before entering your next word.

Keep practice separate from the daily game

Practice results do not add to or break your daily streak, and they do not enter the daily guess distribution. Use the daily game when you want to tackle the shared puzzle for the current UTC date.

Choose New practice game to leave the current practice round and begin another. If you are still working on a word, make sure you are ready to leave it first.

Practice questions

Do I have to wait until tomorrow to play again?

No. Practice has no daily round limit. The shared daily puzzle still changes only at midnight UTC.

Should I always use the same opening word?

You can, but practice is a useful place to compare approaches. An opener that checks several different letters answers different questions from one that concentrates on vowels.

Where are the rules?

The how-to-play guide explains each feedback state. For ways to use those clues, read word game strategy.
